Mosquitoes are a common nuisance in Malaysia, particularly in areas with high humidity and standing water. The country's tropical climate provides the perfect breeding ground for these pesky insects, leading to a high population density in certain regions.
Unfortunately, mosquitoes in Malaysia are not just a nuisance - they also pose a serious health risk. The country is home to several mosquito-borne diseases, including dengue fever, malaria, and Zika virus. These diseases can have severe consequences, ranging from mild flu-like symptoms to life-threatening complications.
To combat the mosquito situation and prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases, the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) conducts research on mosquito control methods. This includes studying the behavior and habitats of mosquitoes, as well as developing strategies for effective mosquito eradication.
